As a healer, your energy is your most important tool. You hold space for others with compassion, intuition, and care. In order to do that well, you also need to create sacred space for yourself. Grounding rituals before and after sessions help protect your energy and keep you aligned with your purpose.

Before a session, begin with prayer or meditation. This helps you settle into your center and open your heart. Find the most comfortable seat for yourself and settle in. Light a protection candle with intention, inviting in peace and clarity. Ground your energy and gently set aside any personal emotions or stress so you can be fully present for your client.

During the session, create a calm and nurturing environment. A peaceful atmosphere supports deep emotional work for both client and clinician. Try sipping on a warm herbal tea such as hibiscus, cacao, rose petal, lemongrass, jasmine, or chamomile.

These gentle herbs can soothe the nervous system and encourage openness in the space.

After the session, return to yourself with grounding practices. Let your bare feet touch the earth or place your hands in soil. You can also cleanse the space and your energy using prayer, palo santo, incense, or grounding tools like a grounding mat. Drink plenty of water to rehydrate your body and clear your energy. Emotional work can be draining and replenishing yourself is essential.

Supporting your wellbeing through consistent self-care is essential to being a grounded and centered healer. Eating a balanced diet will nurture your body and gut health. Over 80% of serotonin is created in the gut, so what you eat directly affects your mood and emotional balance. Make time for physical movement that feels good for your body and spirit. Whether it's walking, stretching, or dancing, movement brings energy back into flow.

These rituals are not extras. They are the foundation that allows you to show up fully as a guide and space holder. When you care for yourself with intention, you deepen your ability to care for others.

With gratitude,

Terri Y
